Field Projects

In the spring semester of your first year, you will apply your academic knowledge to a real-world business challenge in a team consulting project for a company offering a business model or service, or a parallel set of challenges, to that of your identified target employer or industry.

Team Building, Networking

As part of a three- or four-person team, you will work closely with executives from a local, regional, or global company to define the scope, objectives, and deliverables for a 16-week project. Faculty advisors and MBA staff will serve as resources and will check in on a bi-weekly basis throughout the semester.

Hands-on Experience

The Field Project will give you consulting experience in a focus area such as product strategy, financial analysis, strategic planning, or operational excellence. It will also enhance your ability to manage team dynamics — communication, organization, planning, leading, outcome — as well as hone your ability to make sound decisions in a time and resource constrained environment.

Advanced Field Projects

If you want to build on your initial Field Project experience, this 3-credit elective is an opportunity to choose from a series of available projects, then work in a team with graduate students from other disciplines to tackle a complex consulting challenge. Advanced Field projects are designed for students who wish to gain additional industry or skill specific resume-enhancing experience.
