Assessments and Services for Exploring Your Career

Career Assessments

At Eller, you have access to two assessment tools that will give you insight into:

  1. Your skills, interests, values, and cultural preferences
  2. Career paths that match these preferences
  3. Your preferred, secondary, and oppositional communication styles
  4. Specific behavioral styles to help you gain commitment and cooperation and prevent conflicts

The assessment tools Eller leverages are:

  • Career Leader
  • PeopleStyles (initial access provided in the first-year Business Communication course)

Your assessment results will also be used in career counseling sessions with our staff to ensure that we are delivering customized feedback and suggestions.

Career Development Curriculum

Each student takes a one credit Advanced Employment Strategies Class, BNAD 500, during the fall of their 2nd year. This six week class will build upon your skills aquired in year one through the services of the Office of Career Development.

The Office of Career Development and Experiential Learning team offer services, by appointment, to assist you throughout your entire career search process:

  • Assessment analysis
  • Individualized career counseling
  • Writing workshops for resumes and cover letters
  • Resume review
  • Cover letter review
  • Networking workshops
  • Mentoring with seasoned professionals
  • Mock interviewing

Select services from the above list are available to students in the Executive and Evening MBA programs, as well.
